Steve Rogers No Longer Captain America In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’; Are We Getting Nomad?

Aug 26, 2016

The Russos are making the press rounds and they’ve dropped a tidbit concerning where Steve Rogers will be in Avengers: Infinity War. Confirming to The Huffington Post, they reveal that after the events of Civil War, Rogers has given-up on the Captain America mantle.

“I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity. [It’s] him admitting that certainly the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice that he was making.”

It remains to be seen if we’ll see someone else like takeover down the line (both Sam and Bucky are considered international criminals), but to us it sounds like Steve will become Nomad. His secondary superhero persona he took in the 70’s, when he became disillusioned with America and became a nationless hero. This could reflect his current fugitive status and it’ll be interesting to see if he’s still taking on missions on his own, while on the run.

Avengers: Infinity War begins production in Atlanta this fall with it’s release set for May 4th, 2018.
