Deadshot is going to find that some pardons aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.
Floyd Lawton believes that his life can start over again and he’s nervous about how his ex and daughter will receive him. He finds that his little girl misses him and that she has some serious skills with s bow. His homecoming is short lived unfortunately when a news report has him listed as a fugitive even though he’s been pardoned for his crimes. When the authorities comes to take him in, his daughter stands in the way and a fight ensues that could put her in grave danger without the help of the Suicide Squad.
At the same time, Ted Kord finds himself scrambling to protect a secret that could cost him a lot with the Suicide Squad on the loose. In order to protect it, he brings in the government to hunt the team down. Unfortunately, he’s going to find that with his handpicked Suicide Squad leader out of the picture, the CEO is walking around with a bullseye on his own back.
I liked this story a lot. Deadshot has an interesting arc and the characterization is one that makes him engaging to me as a reader. The plot stays focused on Lawton and that makes it work because the twists in the plot feel organic and become a pleasant surprise when they are revealed. The story is compelling and does a great job of making the characters relatable and interesting.
Daniel Sampere does an excellent job with the art throughout this issue. The fight sequence with Deadshot was beautifully rendered and full of action. The panel progress is awesome and the characters and action are full of detail.
