Swampnados are coming to the DC Universe.
‘Sharknado’ franchise star Ian Ziering is poised to join the first season of ‘Swamp Thing’ as David Cassidy, aka Blue Devil. Cassidy, who was once a stuntman famous for playing the Blue Devil, character, is a washed-up actor yearning for his glory days to return, but unaware that destiny is about hit him in the face.
In the comics, Cassidy was a stuntman who got stuck in the Blue Devil costume permanently before being transformed into an actual demon by Neron. He is a member of the Shadowpact, a team of supernatural heroes including Detective Chimp, Enchantress, and others.
Ziering most recently starred in six ‘Sharknado’ movies on the SyFy channel and was in every episode of ‘90210’ during its decade long run.
‘Swamp Thing’ hails from Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman with Len Wiseman directing the pilot. All three are executive producing alongside James Wan and Michael Clear.
The show follows Abby Arcane, a CDC agent who returns to her hometown to investigate a deadly swamp-born virus. Along the way, she discovers that the swamp holds mysterious and terrifying secrets, some of which involve her old friend Alec Holland. Crystal Reed is starring alongside Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jeryl Prescott, and Kevin Durand.
‘Swamp Thing’ will debut on DC Universe sometime in 2019.
