Sweet Tooth Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

Jul 29, 2021

Netflix has renewed hit series Sweet Tooth for an eight-episode second season. The first season premiered on June 4, and was watched by over 60 million viewers in the first four weeks.

Sweet Tooth is based on a DC comic series written by Jeff Lemire. It takes place in a world where a viral pandemic wiped out most of the human population. At the same time, human-animal hybrid babies emerge, causing fear on the remaining humans, who start hunting the hybrids down. One of these hybrids is Gus, a 10-year old deer-boy who goes on a journey to find his mother

Showrunner Jim Mickle said: “It’s been equally thrilling and heartwarming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey.”

Season 1 co-showrunner Beth Schwartz won’t return for the second season, as she is developing drama Red Queen for Peacock.

Sweet Tooth stars Nonzo Anozie, Christian Convery, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez and Aliza Vellani. James Brolin narrates.
