Taiki Waititi Wants To Make A Crazy and Comedic ‘Black Widow’ Movie

Oct 26, 2017

Kevin Feige and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi have been teasing working together on a future Marvel film. Taika went one step further while speaking with iO9 stating he’d like a crack at Black Widow film.

“[I’d like to see] Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be,” he continued. “Because we know her story and it’s very sullen and very dark and her history is very dark. But! What’s the funny version of that? What’s the more entertaining version of that?”

Marvel almost made a solo film years ago at Lionsgate with David Hayer set to write and direct, only for things to fall apart.

More recently, we’ve known that Kevin Feige and Scarlett Johansson have been talking about a Black Widow franchise with Scarlett teasing a Russian setting.

The humor angle might be throwing off some fans unfamiliar with the spy genre which includes comedies such as True Lies, Mr. And Mrs. Smith, Get Smart, Austin Powers, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Spy, Spies Like Us, Kingsman, This Means War, The Brothers Grimsby, Johnny English, and the cheeky Roger Moore era of Bond.
