Taron Egerton and Two Other Actors Test For Young ‘Han Solo’ Role

Mar 15, 2016

Back in February 2015, we learned from the Sun Daily that British actor Taron Egerton was first linked for the role of Han Solo in the standalone spin-off.

The film will focus on a younger Han Solo and his Wookiie pal Chewie with Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller at the helm.

A new report from The Hollywood Reporter puts Taron back into the sights of Lucasfilm as he’s apart of the studio shortlist. The other names on the list include actors Jack Reynor and Alden Ehrenreich, who seem like equally viable candidates.

Last weekend in London the three actors apparently did screen-tests for the role.

Taron is about to start production on Kingsman 2 for director Matthew Vaughn, which has Julianne Moore and Halle Berry in talks for key roles.

Han Solo is said to be looking at a 2018 release date.
