Taron Egerton Eyed For Han Solo Role In ‘STAR WARS’ Spin-Offs?

Feb 21, 2015

Forget X-Men and Spider-Man, it looks like Kingsman‘s Taron Egerton might be setting his sights a bit bigger. As The Sun (via The Daily Mail) reports that producers are strongly considering hiring Edgerton for the role of a young Han Solo in the Star Wars spin-offs.

They’re also saying that the role is for both the Boba Fett and Han Solo spin-offs, but we actually haven’t had confirmation what these movies will be focusing on, along with their leads. This is also coming from the tabloids so keep that in mind.

While it’s a British tabloid the deals would likely be happening across the pound as the Star Wars productions are mainly taking place in the UK. Like Bond, a lot of the breaking casting news could be coming from across the pond.

Oscar nominee Felicity Jones (Theory of Everything, Like Crazy, Dom Hemingway) has already reportedly landed in the unnamed female lead of Gareth Edwards‘ film and is expected to be it’s main protagonist. There’s a strong possiblity that Solo will be apart of the December 2016 film as well.

The film is said to be a heist film that includes a group of bounty hunters gathering the Death Star plans for the Rebel Alliance. Rumors have suggested that both Solo and Boba Fett would be apart of the film, but it hasn’t been confirmed by the studio.

Although, I have to admit that I’d take Taron over Aaron Paul, as Paul had also been linked for the Solo role. This is leading me to believe that Edgar Ramirez who had been linked as well could be actually wanted for that Boba Fett role.

Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn had actually pitched a Star Wars film to Lucasfilm when the studio was searching for someone to take-on The Force Awakens. Even recently Vaughn has stated he’s still very interested in directing films like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. So the connection to Vaughn shouldn’t be ignored.

Eggsy has a lot of Han Solo in him so we’ll see if this pans-out for Taron.
