The Best Video Games With Gambling Scenes

Jul 11, 2018

There is a synergy between video games and casinos which has been present for a long time; and it is becoming more and more common for games within online casinos such as slots to take on themes of successful video games. It is no surprise now, given the links between the two that gambling is often also found within many video games, which offer some kind of betting or gambling experience as part of the game or a mini game. We had a look at such games and listed the best ones below.

GTA: San Andreas

Throughout the GTA series, casinos can be found, but the first one that actually introduced gambling into gameplay and saw interactive casinos was GTA:San Andreas. The player must attempt to increase the gambling ability of the character Carl Johnson and increase his skill level by spending money in the casinos found in the game. Every time $100 are spent within the casino the skill level increases and the higher the skill level of the character, the more casino games become available and give the character the chance to ‘borrow’ more money from the casino.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 was one of our picks for the best game of 2015 and was seen as somewhat of a benchmark in terms of its innovative gameplay. The game contains a card game called Gwent that is integrated within the storyline the player follows, as finding cards and building up a strong deck within each new area of the game enabled side quests to be completed that required winning games of Gwent. This card game is likely to appeal to gamers who enjoy playing poker.

Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64, played on the Nintendo DS allows the player to visit Luigi’s Casino, which is sometimes a nice break for players, as an alternative to riding cars. Within the casino, standard games such as roulette and blackjack can be played, but also Mushroom Kingdom themed slots, which are a lot of fun. The casino within this game allows players to experience gambling without risking real money.

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption gives the player a chance to play poker in the saloon of the Texas Hold’Em variety, if they fancy a break from saving farms and taking down bandits. The exciting thing about playing poker within this game is that you are able to cheat and if you get away with it you will benefit, but you must decide if it’s worth taking the risk, as if you get caught you might find yourself in a death showdown as a result.

Finally Fantasy VIII

This series of games are famous for bringing Japanese role play games to the West and this edition of the game features a mini card game called Triple Triad. It is played within a 3×3 grid and each card has 4 numbers, each corresponding to one side of the card. The way to compete is the place your cards within empty spaces upon the board and they are then be compared to your opponents in the opposing positions. Whoever has the highest number card wins and then a card changes to the colour of the player who wins. Winner of the game is the one with most cards in their colour at the end.
