In the aftermath of the death of Godspeed, Barry must make a fateful decision about how to stop Reverse Flash.

Reverse Flash has decided to make his own Reverse Flash Family and he’s on a recruiting hunt through time. His first stop is Gorilla City to find a Grodd infused with the speed force. His next trip will bring him face to face with the Rogues, who reiterate how much they hate speedsters.

At the same time, Barry has come to a decision. One that will see him turn away everyone he cares about, especially Avery and Wallace. As he broods in the Speed Lab, his family arrives to convince him that they are all in this fight and can only win together. A prospect that will become a lot harder when Thawne makes his way to the future to recruit speedsters with a personal stake in stopping The Flash.

Thawne’s recruiting trip is an interesting storyline and Williamson does a good job of showcasing the mindset of the villains and how Thawne can be effective in bringing them together. The biggest downside to the story is the feeling of “been there, done that” with these characters. We’ve already had three big story arcs featuring The Turtle, Trickster and Grodd and this story goes back into those without a pause, making it seem like we’re about to go over the same ground again. I want to experience something new and engaging about The Flash as a character and it doesn’t look like that will be happening anytime soon.

Christian Duce does great work with the art. The characters look amazing and the speed effects are fun and detailed. Hopefully the story will evolve in a way that allows the art to bring something new and visually interesting.
