‘The Inhumans’ Mini Series Will Debut in IMAX Theaters Labor Day 2017

Nov 21, 2016

Last week Marvel announced that an 8-episode mini series based off The Inhumans will debut on ABC. However, it was also revealed that the first two episode will be shown exclusively ion IMAX theaters September 2017 before appearing on ABC. With the first two episodes being shot entirely with IMAX cameras. It will be shown on over 1,000 IMAX theaters in over 74 countries.

Now, today The Hollywood Reporter revealed that IMAX actually approached Marvel with this cross-platform idea. ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood went onto say “We think this is a quadruple win — a win for IMAX, a win for Marvel, a win for ABC Studios and a win for ABC to launch a show in an innovative way and get attention.” They go onto reveal that when the episodes appear on ABC additional content will be shown as well. Lastly, the report does go onto specify that this mini series will not take the place of the planned film. Even though the planned film has been taken off the Marvel Studios release schedule. Also, this will not feature Inhuman characters that debuted first on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
