Yesterday, Star Wars: The Last Jedi officially crossed the billion dollar mark at the global box office.

The second installment in the new trilogy has pulled off an impressive $1.007 billion global cume in only fifteen days of release. It’s expected to push past that impressive milestone as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day box office has yet to be incorporated.

Disney has topped the $6 billion dollar mark for earnings in 2017 and the film also contributed to the $11.1 billion overall global box office earnings for the year.

Last Jedi will overtake Beauty and the Beast to become the top-grossing film domestically and now seeks to take the top spot in 2017 global grosses within the next week or so. It’s expected to knock-off Despicable Me 3 this weekend.

It’s speedy race to a billion should help quell those clickbait headlines that tried to give the impression the film was having problems earning when it clearly isn’t.
