Review

As previously mentioned, Howard and Lupe find themselves in an unfortunate predicament. Broken down car near a small town. Now, this town has a little bit of a problem it is being terrorized by a monstrous wolf and a peculiar child wearing a wolf mask. While waiting for the tow truck, Lupe has a chance encounter with the wolf child in the forest. Unbeknownst to Howard, the church is aware that he is alive and on the run. While at the motel, Lupe goes out to grab a soda and finds herself face-to-face with the wolf child once again. Intrigued, she follows him into the woods, only to stumble on a shocking and gruesome scene.

The Art

The artwork throughout The Lonesome Hunters: The Wolf Child remains eerie and unsettling. The opening panel effectively establishes the atmosphere and the tone, instantly pulling readers back into the spooky world of the series.

Final Thought:

In this first issue, the series seamlessly continues from its previous installment. Allowing readers to catch their breath and absorb the narrative. Crook understands the importance of pacing and building tension in a storyline that plays out more like a marathon than a sprint. The very realistic feeling that the relationship between Howard and Lupe has is what sets this story apart from a long list of horror comics. The story of Howard and Lupe finally continues and I cannot wait to see where it goes.
