‘The Mummy’ Reboot Starring Tom Cruise Will Hit June 2017

Jan 24, 2016

It has been officially announced by Variety that Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise will indeed star in Alex Kurtzman’s upcoming Mummy reboot. This comes off denials from Cruises reps a few months ago when he was first rumored. He joins Kingsman and Star Trek Beyond star Sofia Boutella who has signed onto play the classic female monster.

The film has also been pushed back a couple months from March 24th, 2017 to June 9th, 2017. This is expected to be the first (Luke Evan’s Dracula Untold must have been dismissed as canon) in a series of “classic monsters” shared universe. Others that include will be the rumored (but not confirmed) Angelina Jolie’s Bride of Frankenstein and Scarlett Johansson’s Creature from the Black Lagoon. The universe will also include Van Helsing, The Wolfman and The Invisible Man. A “team-up” movie is also expected to happen down the line in the likeness of Marvel’s The Avengers.
