‘The Predator’ Moves To February 2018; Continuity And Lead Hero Revealed

May 28, 2016

The Predator release date has been officially moved-up from March 2nd, 2018 to February 9th, 2018, giving the huge sci-fi event film a release window which has been successful for both The Kingsman and this year’s Deadpool. The two also R-rated event films that ended-up grabbing the attention audiences during the slow turnout winter release season.

Speaking of Deadpool, this likely means that Deadpool 2 won’t be ready for a 2018 release date, as we suspect Fox would want to put the sequel in a similar release slot in and around Valentine’s Day. Their summer spots for 2018 are also being gobbled-up by other projects, so it’s going to be hard to imagine it’ll be ready anytime before 2019.

In other Predator news, Shane Black has confirmed to HeyUGuys the film will indeed acknowledge both Predator 2 and Predators.

Could this mean we might see people like Danny Glover or the surviving cast of Predators, also have roles in the film?

While speaking with Empire he also teased the name of the lead character.

“The hero of the film, the name I’ve given the guy, is Quinn McKenna.”

We’re still in the dark about Arnold Schwarznegger‘s involvement, but I hear they might be making an announcement soon about those talks.

It’s funny because there had been a version of Predator 3, where both Dutch and Harrigan where taken to the predator homeworld to duke it out with aliens in a gladiator pit for the entertainment of the population.
