‘The Predator’ Will Shoot This September In Vancouver; Are We Going Off-World Again?

Jun 10, 2016

The Predator will apparently be starting production this September and will be shooting in Vancouver according to an updated list of projects from the Director’s Guild of Canada (via AVP Galaxy), it’ll likely be shooting on the same stages that Tim Miller’s Deadpool used.

Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Nice Guys, Iron Man 3), who co-wrote the film with longtime friend Fred Dekker (Night of The Creeps, Robocop 3, Monster Squad) and Black will be directing the film, he’s also previously revealed the lead hero’s name which is Quinn McKenna.

Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s Dutch is said to be wanted for the film, as I’ve heard they have a script with Dutch and one without him, so it’s all about finding the time in his schedule to make it work.

Shooting in Vancouver, when the original shot in Mexico could give us some clues that we’re not going back to the jungle and might be going a little more off-world than we’ve previously seen before. I wouldn’t be terribly shocked if the predator homeworld comes into play, considering the universe is a massive cosmic sandbox and we’ve only seen glimpses of it.

There are forests and mountains in the area, but nothing that we’d consider alien or jungle-like.

The Predator is set for release on February 9th, 2017.
