It was recently announced that 007 franchise producer Barbara Broccoli would be behind a female espionage pic The Rhythm Section starring Blake Lively and Jude LawThe film directed by Reed Morano (The Handmaid’s Tale) is expected to become a franchise if successful.

Stephanie Patrick is on a path of self-destruction after the death of her family in an airplane crash, a flight that she was meant to be on. After discovering that the crash was not an accident, her anger awakens a new sense of purpose and she rises to uncover the truth by adapting the identity of an assassin to track down those responsible. The new, and lethal, Stephanie Patrick is on a mission to fill the void between what she knows and what she is told. First installment in what is conceived as a series based on Mark Burnell’s four ‘Stephanie Patrick’ espionage novels.

We’ve learned from a new production listing that filming could be starting as soon as next week (November 6th) with locations including UK (Omega Underground has confirmed this production location), Ireland, Spain, United States, and Switzerland.

I’m a little skeptical that production would begin without Jude Law, who is busy with Fantastic Beasts 2. But the globetrotting production destinations do seem to fit with Broccoli’s taste for varied locales.

However, they do seem to have a bulk of their crew ready to go as Omega Underground has also uncovered separately that cinematographer Sean Bobbitt (Hunger, Shame A Place Beyond The Pines, 12 Years A Slave, Widows), production designer Tom Conroy (Vikings, Legend), and stunt coordinator Oliver Schneider (Taken, Spectre) will be working on the film.

It was recently announced the IM Global film will be released on February 22nd, 2019.
