It is now confirmed that Christian Bale (‘The Dark Knight,’ ‘Ford v Ferrari’) has been cast in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’ Also, he will indeed be playing the villain, but we do not know the character as of now.

Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, broke the news in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:

Entertainment Tonight: ‘Thor: Love and Thunder,’ what can you give us? Have you read the script yet?”Tessa Thompson: “Yeah, yeah, I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie and I. We’re gonna have fun. You know, Taika is writing, directing, some familiar faces, some new people into the mix. Christian Bale is gonna play our villain which is gonna be fantastic. Yeah, it’s gonna be good.”

Moreover, Chris Hemsworth will once again play the titular character, while Natalie Portman will reprise the role of Jane Foster. Taika Waititi will also lend his voice once again for the role of fan-favorite Korg.

Based on how ‘Avengers: Endgame’ ended, spoiler alert, Thor becomes a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. So, it would make sense Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Vin Diesel join Chris Hemsworth in this fo(u)rthcoming sequel.

Taika Waititi (‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ ‘Jojo Rabbit’) will return to direct, and this time he wrote the screenplay, with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (‘Sweet/Vicious,’ ‘Someone Great’). Waititi himself recruited Robinson to join him on this project, likely for a women’s perspective, with Valkyrie and Jane leading.

Meanwhile, last July, we at the GWW got word that Marvel Studios is casting a transwoman actress for an upcoming project. With casting ramping up for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder,’ perhaps we will soon find out who will play this role, as well as the character itself (which is all but confirmed to be Sera).

Further, filming will begin this August in Sydney, Australia.

Marvel Studios will release the film on November 5, 2021.
