Tilda Swinton In Talks To Play The Ancient One In Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’

May 27, 2015

The Hollywood Reporter says that actress Tilda Swinton is currently in talks with Marvel Studios to take a major role in Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange. Tilda could be playing Strange’s mentor The Ancient One, who teaches him the mystical arts. It would make sense to pair Benedict Cumberbatch with another character actor, but it remains to be seen if she’ll end-up signing a contract.

Swinton won an Oscar for Best Support Actress for Michael Clayton, and her other credits include The Grand Budapest, Snowpiercer, Constantine, We Need To Talk About Kevin,

I actually had Tilda pegged for Thor: Ragnarok‘s Hela, so I’d be fine if she landed this role.

Chiwetel Ejiofor had been also previously linked for role in the film, and it’s been said that Daniel Bruhl‘s Zemo could be apart of the cast as well.

Doctor Strange is coming out on November 4th, 2017, with production beginning this fall in the UK.
