It was just a couple of days ago that the HollywoodReporter revealed that Warner Bros. was looking to get filming started this fall on their eighties-set Joker origin movie from writer-director Todd Phillips and with Joaquin Phoenix reportedly attached to star.
Their origin comic book film is said to be set outside the main continuity of the DC films as Jared Leto is reportedly getting his own Joker movie as well.
Omega Underground has learned this is indeed the case and that the studio hopes to get cameras rolling by this September in New York City.
This would suggest a possible release date next year but nothing has been made official. We suspect this could be one of the film’s that are expected to be announced at the studio’s DC presentation at San Diego Comic-Con next month.
