Tom Cruise In Talks To Headline Universals ‘Mummy’ Reboot

Nov 30, 2015

Variety is reporting that Mission Impossible & Edge of Tomorrow star Tom Cruise has entered talks to star in Universals Mummy reboot. In Jon Spahits original script the main character was Navy officer Tyler Colt. This comes after The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Universal is considering allowing Maleficent star Angelina Jolie to headline their Bride of Frankenstein reboot. All these films are set within their classic monsters cinematic universe. It supposedly started with 2014’s Dracula Untold starring Luke Evans. But it does seem that Universal may scrap this idea and have The Mummy be the beginning of this new universe. Talks have circulated in the past that Scarlett Johansson may star in the studios Creature from the Black Lagoon reboot. Other films set within the universe include Frankenstein, The Wolfman and Van Helsing. Each are expected to appear in each others films with an “Avengers-esque” tie-in film down the line.

The Mummy is expected to hit in 2017
