Tom Hooper’s ‘Cats’ Hires ‘Les Miserables’ Cinematographer and Production Designer

Jun 19, 2018

It was recently revealed by our good friends at ThatHashtagShow that Tom Hopper and Universal Pictures were gearing up to making a feature film version of the Andrew Llyod Webber musical Cats with production eyeing a start this September in London.

They were seemingly unaware if the film would be live-action or CGI. We might be able to shed some light on the this.

Omega Underground can report that director Tom Hooper will yet again reunite with Les Miserables cinematographer Danny Cohen (Room) and production designer Eve Stewart (The Girl In The Spider’s Web), they also worked with Hooper on The Danish Girl and The King’s Speech.

This most likely means that they will indeed be looking to go with a live-action set and camera setup at the very least. If they plan on using motion capture or elaborate costumes for actors remains to be seen.

Casting is said to be underway.

Universal has yet to give Cats a release date but there is a good chance that it will land sometime in Fall 2019.
