Given that video games play such an important role in the entertainment industry, it’s only logical that they are a continuous source of inspiration not only for movie directors, but also for developers of online casino games, and of slot games in particular. There are a few iconic video games that have made it into the slot machine world – and in this article we’ll take a look at some of the best ones, to see what makes the slots particularly enjoyable.

Space Invaders

An old-time classic from the early era of video gaming, developed in 1978 by Taito, Space Invaders is a cornerstone in the gaming world, and has inspired tons of merchandise and even hotels & bars, so it’s not surprising to see it reinvented as a slot game.

Playtech, one of the top developers of online casino games and software and the creator of the Space Invaders slot game, have decided to not complicate things –  it is a classic 5-reel slot with 10 paylines, that has two bonus features – Invader Wild and UFO wild – and the possibility to win big jackpots.

It has a colourful design that’s true to the style of the original video game – the slot game resembles an arcade screen, and is full of aliens and UFOs. Additionally, features a retro soundtrack in an 8-bit style that will surely bring fond memories to life.

Tomb Raider

The Tomb Raider series needs no introduction – the first game dating from 1996, it has  been a huge success in the 90s and early 2000s, and its fans will love the graphics & the features of this slot machine.

When you start playing, the first thing you’ll see is a video of Lara Croft, where you can see her shooting, running, avoiding obstacles, and generally being herself – as we know her.

The Tomb Raider-inspired slot machine is a 5-reeler with 15 paylines, developed by Microgaming. The graphics are full of symbols from the game (including 2 Lara Croft symbols), and even the fonts are similar. The Tomb Raider logo is the highest-paying symbol and the game’s Wild.

Resident Evil

Another video game classic from the 90s, Resident Evil, which will soon have its own Netflix series, also has a themed slot game, developed by Skywind – and it does not disappoint. True to the original video game, it’s full of horror-inspired elements and familiar symbols, and its design and animation are very good.

It has 5 reels with 20 paylines, and plenty of features – including a bonus game where you need to shoot enemies to keep going, free spins, a chest feature where you pick a chest for an additional chance to win, and more.

Call of Duty

Call of Duty is one of the most well-known first-person shooter series in the history of video games, and the gameplay develops throughout a number of different settings – WWI, WWII, the Cold Era, and even in the future.

The slot game was developed by CryptoLogic, and has 5 reels and 25 paylines, plus a number of additional features, such as scramble (giving you a chance to win in an unsuccessful spin), grenades or mines that trigger Wilds, and a bonus game, where you need to put your gaming skills to use – you shoot enemies for free spins and multipliers, and it continues for as long as you manage to stay alive.

Its design and soundtrack are true to the original game, and provide for a fun and entertaining experience.
