Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that trolls director Mike Mitchell will director the sequel to the smash hit The Lego Movie. The director has also directed such hits like Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwreked and Shrek Forever After. He comes on board while previously director Rob Schrab left the project due to creative differences. The sequel is based on a screenplay by original directors Chris Miller & Phil Lord. They however have gone onto direct a Han Solo spin-off Star Wars movie. They will still stay on to produce the sequel.
This news comes just a week before The Lego Movie spin-off The Lego Batman movie hits theaters. The Lego universe is also developing a Lego Ninjago Movie as well as others.
