After the massive success of last years Straight Outta Compton work on a Tupac biopic was fast tracked into production. This comes after a decade of the film in development hell just like Straight Outta Compton. It is currently filming in Atlanta with actor Demetrius Shipp Jr stepping into the shoes of famed murdered rapper Tupac Shakur. Actor Jamal Woolard will also return to reprise his role of rapper Biggie Small’s which he played in 2009 biopic Notorious.
Now two more casting has been announced. According to Deadline actress Danai Gurira has been cast to play Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur. Danai Gurira is most famous for playing the samurai sword wielding bad-ass Michonne on the hit TV Show The Walking Dead. Next Variety announced that singer and actress Kat Graham has been cast to play Tupac classmate Jada Pickett Smith. Both Tupac and Jada went to high school together at the Baltimore School for the Preforming Arts.
