Tyrese Gibson is returning to the Transformers universe as Robert Epps for Transformers: The Last Knight it has been confirmed (yay). The actor who missed out on the last installment (Transformers: Age of Extinction) revealed to Entertainment Tonight at the BET Awards.

Let’s just say 2017, summertime, it’s going to be a lot of energy out there in the universe: Fast 8, Transformers 5, I’m here to take advantage of my America.

Gibson isn’t the only OG that will return to the franchise, Josh Duhamel who starred alongside Gibson in the first three films was confirmed to reprise his role as William Lennox before production began on the film last month.

Watch Tyrese confirm his return with Transformers director Michael Bay:

Hopefully The Last Knight will explain in more detail what happened to the cast of the original three, after none were acknowledged in Age of Extinction.

Is it wrong that I still hold out hope that Shia LaBeouf will rock up as Sam Witwicky once again?
