This week the Internet found out that the sequel for a new IP that released almost 2 years ago will launch before Ubisoft’s fiscal year of 2017 ends. That means Watch Dogs 2 will hit shelves before April of 2017. This news comes to light courtesy of Ubisoft’s earnings release.
According to the release, “Ubisoft will launch a very high-quality lineup” including “the next installment of Watch Dogs” as well as a “new high-potential AAA brand with strong digital live services.”
The only other information regarding this sequel is the possibility of both a new city – San Francisco. Another possible change is that a new protagonist could be featured in the game. I’m fairly sure more information will come during E3 about Watch Dogs 2 & other future Ubisoft games.
While I liked the hacking & seamless transition from single player to multi-player activities in the first game, the story was just okay. This game is on my radar now, but I’ll need more information before I potentially add it to a list of must buy games at launch.
If you have any thoughts on this game announcement or perhaps which platforms it should be playable on feel free to post them below. I personally believe that the last generation of consoles will be left behind once 2017 rolls around if not sooner.
