UPDATE: Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ Movie Has A Wrap Date

Apr 13, 2018

While a director has to be announced for Gambit, 20th Century Fox has established the film’s production dates.

We recently revealed filming was expected to begin on June 19th in New Orleans and now we have a wrap date as well.

Gambit should wrap on September 29th.

The film underwent another round of rewrites with screenwriter Reid Carolin and remains to be seen if it’ll lean towards a PG-13 or R rating. Fox seem to be happy with this new draft.

Channing Tatum is still attached to play Remy but unknown if Lizzy Caplan will stick around. Casting is expected to start soon once they secure a director.

Jon Hamm was rumored by TrackingBoard to be up for villain Mister Sinister (cameo in New Mutants) and at one point Sinister was said to be part of the Gambit script, so I’m curious if Hamm will ultimately nab the role or was written out of the comic book film. Sinister has strong ties to Gambit and Cable.

Hamm is currently attached as the male lead of Noah Hawley’s Pale Blue Dot opposite Natalie Portman, which also films this summer in Louisiana (and Los Angeles).

Fox switched the Gambit release date to June 7th, 2019.
