UPDATE: New ‘Deadpool 2’ Set Photo Teasing Villain Cain Marko aka Juggernaut?

Aug 19, 2017

A new photo from the set of Deadpool 2 in Vancouver might shed some light on who Jack Kesy might be playing in the sequel. As he was originally announced by trades as a villain his role was never ultimately revealed or confirmed the studio.

UPDATE: We’ve discovered a clearer photo of the actor, who is not Jack Kesy but likely a stand-in/stuntman.

This new photo of Jack on set seemingly has him in a motion capture suit while taking a break from filming.

UPDATE #2: A friendly Twitter user has sent us another image of this motion capture actor his with headgear which likely used to increase his character’s height. Confirming previous on set accounts he had a false head, not unlike Colossus’ stand-in.

We’re in the belief that Colossus stand-in actor Andre Tricoteux will be returning as he’s hinted via Instagram after thanking director David Leitch after inviting him for an early screening of Atomic Blonde last month.

On the Jack Kesy front, here’s an image he recently posted of himself on his Instagram account and he’s super jacked. We also funny enough discovered he’s starring in another movie which happens to be titled Juggernaut.

Another piece of intel given to Omega Underground by the image poster claims that he also had a false head, not unlike the motion capture actor from the first film who played Colossus.

Our thoughts here are turning to mutant criminal Cain Marko aka The Juggernaut. Marko happens to have clashed with Wade, X-Force, and Colossus (becomes the new Juggernaut) in the comics, along with being the partner of Irish villain Black Tom Cassidy. Tom has been linked as one of the film’s villains by trades.

Omega Underground was the first to make the connection to Colossus being in Deadpool via set photos.

We previously uncovered some audition tapes for Deadpool 2 (removed upon the request of 20th Century Fox) for a character that could have been easily the one Kesy landed. While threatening a group who are bothering a young boy (Julian?) mentions the “devil inside” and “the big man downstairs” along with referring to Cable as the “man with the metal arm”. There was some speculation that this character might have been Cain Marko or even a new mutant with transformation powers.

Joe Carnahan, who is rumored to be writing and possibly directing X-Force had tried to make a Juggernaut movie at one point.

“For Alex (Young, producer of “The A-Team”) I was going to do Taskmaster. Originally I wanted to do Juggernaut ’cause I had a really good take on that, and then Taskmaster was something we talked about, and I haven’t discussed it with him for ages, but I would love to get back in. I love the idea of a guy with photographic reflexes, he can see something and repeat it, I thought that was such a cool idea. I think there’s a Moon Knight series where he just beats the sh*t out of Taskmaster and kind of ruined him, and it’s a cool character. I think it might be one of those Marvel characters you really need to reimagine because he’s got the whole skull and cape—it’s a bit grandiose I think—but it would certainly be a cool thing.”

Bryan Singer almost used a rebooted version of Cain Marko in X-Men: Days of Future Past with Aussie actor Josh Helman in the role, only to scrap plans and place him in the Stryker part instead. To the right is the unused concept art by artist Anthony Jones for Singer’s version of The Juggernaut.

Nothing is confirmed here but it sounds like this actor is playing some CGI villain in the sequel.

The Workshop making a return or are we getting Genosha scenes?

Also, our source spotted multiple collared mutants in yellow jumpsuits, you can see a string of those set pics here.

These mutants are likely linked to Ajax’s Workshop or the people behind it. I have a strong feeling we’ll see what happens to them after being sold-off. Also, possibly connected to the fictional island country of Genosha, which is said to be getting an introduction in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The mutant hating nation used mutants as forced labor and controlled them with electronic collars like the ones at The Workshop and seen in these new set photos.

Deadpool 2 is set for release on June 1st, 2018.
