UPDATE: Sony’s Next ‘Men In Black’ Movie Nabs June Start Date

Mar 8, 2018

Recently, it was revealed that Sony Pictures was finally moving forward with their next installment of the Men In Black franchise. Director F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, Fate of The Furious) and actor Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok) were reported to be in talks to join. There is also chatter that the film’s other lead will be going to an actress of color.

The film would focus on a new batch of characters but seemingly wouldn’t be a complete reboot.

Omega Underground previously revealed that Sony was eyeing a start in May, but have an update on the production start. The studio is now expected to begin filming on June 18th in London, UK. There is also talk of Berlin, Germany being another potential filming location.

There seems to be a new trend of UK/European productions being shot in multiple countries. Likely to collect multiple tax incentives on a single production.

Hemsworth is currently shooting Drew Goddard’s action flick Bad Times At The El Royale in Vancouver until early April. He’ll be next seen in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Sony recently moved the untitled film’s release date to June 14th, 2019.
