The Predator begins shooting on February 20th and it looks like director Shane Black has assembled most of his cast for the film. The main cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, and Jacob Tremblay.
One key role or roles haven’t been announced, though. Who will be behind the mask/masks as the predator in the film?
According to IMDB, Vancouver actor and dancer Kyle Strauts clocking in at six-foot-nine has nabbed the role. It remains to be seen how many predators will be in the film as reports have suggested we could be seeing multiples in The Predator.
Many fans have been expecting Ian Whyte (Rogue One, Prometheus, AVP, Game of Thrones) to reprise the main predator role but could be called up again by Lucasfilm to participate in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story in London which would conflict with the shooting of this new film.
Here’s an image of Kyle posing with Game of Thrones star Kit Harington on the set of The Seventh Son to get a sense of the actor’s size.
Strauts’ social media accounts don’t really give us too many clues about his potential role except for this one post below which we spotted via Instagram.
The post was made during the summer and around the same time Fox was auditioning actors to play predators.
UPDATE: Our good friends over at AVPGalaxy spotted another potential predator actor on Kyle’s Instagram that we overlooked yesterday. Kyle poses with fellow tall man actor Brian A. Prince, who just happens to be a parkour athlete from Seattle which hours away from Vancouver.
Brian to Kyle in response to the post “it was good seeing you man! Can’t wait until January!”. The assumption being that two would be meeting again around the time The Predator is in pre-production.
We also spotted Prince also potentially teasing his involvement The Predator in this post from a couple days ago on his own Instagram account.
Where in the world is Brian… we’ll isn’t that the question. While I’m currently in Vancouver for some work (that I can’t talk about yet, but soon) I’ve decided to take this opportunity to go into a creation cave, where I’m going to try to avoid posting on social media until certain personal and professional projects are completed. If you need me, message me, and I can’t wait to show you lovely peeps some excellent work in the future. #buffering
We suspect that due to Kyle’s height, film experience, dance background, and being a local boy helped land him a part. Although, he could be one of many actors playing these roles.
Production begins in a couple of days so we do expect more information on the project to be revealed including an official synopsis.
