It was recently revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that Zack Snyder would be directing his long in-development Afghanistan War film The Last Photograph, a project Snyder has been trying to get made for almost a decade.
“The Last Photography centres around a war correspondent in Afghanistan who is the only one to survive an attack on a group of Americans. When a special ops soldier in search of a family member shows up, the two team up, with the correspondent hoping to score the story of his life.”
Originally, he was only going to take a producing role on the film.
Back in 2011, it was reported by Deadline that actors such as Christian Bale and Sean Penn were circling lead roles in The Last Photograph when Swedish director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, Dead Man Down) was set to shoot from a script by Kurt Johnstad (300, The Coldest City, 300: Rise of An Empire, Act of Valor).
They’re now reworking a new deal package and will approach Warner Bros. who has a first-look deal with Zack and Deborah Snyder, with plans to begin shooting it as early as late 2017.
We’re extremely curious to see if Bale and Penn will return to the project, now that it seems like it’s about to finally going into production.
