Will JJ Abrams Return For ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’?!

Mar 18, 2015

Anticipation on JJ Abrams upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens could not be higher at the moment. The director who initially didn’t want to take on such a monumental task may be right back in the directors chair. It has already been reported that he won’t return for Star Wars 8 with Rian Johnson (Looper) taking over the writing and directing duties on that film. But Latino-Review has heard that the higher ups at Disney are so impressed with an early cut of The Force Awakens that they are considering offering Episode 9 back to Abrams with Johnson writing. Now even though they may offer him the directing chair once again doesn’t mean Abrams will want to return to this world once again. Much like Joss Whedon not returning for Avengers: Infinity War; Abrams may simply be to exhausted from the first film to even want to return. Again, its several years down the road so who knows what can happen! With Gareth Edwards Star Wars: Rogue One coming out in 2016, Episode 8 in 2017 and Josh Trank’s Star Wars in 2018 it’s a while before JJ Abrams needs to even make this kind of decision.
