‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Star Nicholas Holt Frontrunner to Play JRR Tolkien

Jul 25, 2017

Yesterday is was revealed that Finnish director Dome Karukoski had signed onto direct the upcoming J.R.R Tolkien biopic. Now Deadline is reporting that X-Men:  Dark Phoenix star Nicholas Holt has become the frontrunner to star in the film as Tolkien himself.

Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a fellow group of outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

It’s still unknown if The Chronicles of Narnia author C.S Lewis will make an appearance in the upcoming film duo to both authors becoming friends in college. It’s like having a Tupac movie without Biggie Smalls…it just seems off.

Tolkien has no set release date
