Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been an ever changing event. It was initially planned as a series to complete the director’s vision with the original filmed footage and finished VFX. Then additional photography was added to add some additional scenes to help complete the project more fully. The series idea was still being pushed by Snyder in interviews and by HBO Max as both began to promote the upcoming project.
That idea seems to have changed as Snyder himself has seemed to change course and is looking to now release the project as a “one-shot” film. In a post on Vero, Snyder responded to fan asking if the project would be a series or a film. Snyder responded and seemingly confirmed the change of course with a short but simple reply, “one-shot.”

This decision has been met with a mixed reaction on social media as a four hour film comes with certain challenges for the viewing audience both on streaming and for any potential theatrical release. It’s unknown weather or not this was Snyder’s decision or WB’s but if the film is planned for March as Snyder also seemed to confirmed. This decision could have been made to accommodate an increasingly crowded March for both HBO Max and it’s biggest competitor in the Comic Book Movie genre, Disney Plus. Max will have the highly anticipate Friends reunion coming in the 2nd week as well as Godzilla Vs. Kong at the end of the month, while Disney Plus will have the series finale of WandaVision at the beginning of March followed closely by Falcon and the Winter Solider 2 weeks later. This doesn’t give Snyder’s Justice League a lot of breathing room especially as a weekly series so releasing it all at once maybe a move to get it out and out of the way of these other projects.
No official date has been set for Zack Snyder’s Justice League but expect more details soon.
