It’s October and that means Halloween is almost here. In honor of my favorite holiday of the year I give to you my top thirty horror movies. Now some of these films might be on every list, but some might not. I might even have a film or two that you have never heard of. Just remember this is my top thirty. In other words these films made me cringe or just sent chills up my spine. So with no further ado here is my list.

Sometimes blood and guts does not need to be present to have a great horror film. If anyone has taught us that it is Mr. Alfred Hitchcock. He is the master at psychological horror.

Birds1

Still to this day when I walk by a telephone line with numerous birds on it all I can think of is Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.

Birds2

A young wealthy woman pursues a possible love interest to a small town in Northern California. On her way there she is attacked by a seagull. Thinking it was just an isolated problem she really does not think much of it. It turns out this was just the beginning. More and more problems all related to birds are happening everywhere. Until the town is flooded with all type of winged creatures.

Birds3

I have to applaud Alfred Hitchcock. He took an ordinary animal we see every day and made us fear it. So next time you are strolling through the park take a look around those birds just might be plotting your demise.
