Next X-Men film to take place in the 90s

May 9, 2016

X-Men First Class took place in the 60s, Days of Future Past took place in the 70’s and the upcoming Apocalypse film takes places in the 80s. Now it looks like whichever X-men film comes next will take place in the 90’s.

ComingSoon.net spoke with Simon Kinberg where the producer, himself, confirmed, “The next one is set in the ’90s.”

As that was all that Kinberg was willing to unveil at the time, it is still unclear if he necessarily meant the direct sequel to X-Men Apocalypse or  perhaps New Mutants, which will involve a brand new team and is set to be directed by Josh Boone.

The 90’s were a great year for the X-Men characters, with the iconic redesigns from Jim Lee to one of the best animated series of the 90’s to the creation of everyone’s favorite ragin’ Cajun, Gambit.

What do you think of the X-Men films continuing the trend as each film takes place in a different decade?
