UPDATE: ‘Fast and The Furious 9’ Expected To Rev It’s Engines and Begin Filming Next April

Sep 5, 2018

Director Justin Lin is expected to make his return for the yet to be titled Fast and Furious 9, but we now have a good idea when filming is set to begin.

Omega Underground has learned that Universal is now expected to begin rolling cameras on April 20th.

As we’ve previously reported filming is expected to make a return to Atlanta and franchise cinematographer Stephen F. Windon is already attached.

Originally, there had been talk of filming Furious 9 and Furious 10 back-to-back, but that remains to be seen at the moment as we don’t have any updates on that second film.

This April start could also conflict with Dwayne Johnson‘s Red Notice, which he’ll star alongside former Furious alum Gal Gadot. There is a good chance that Johnson’s role in the upcoming film could be scaled back to another cameo due to his busy schedule.

Johnson and Jason Statham will kick-off production on the first spin-off Hobbs and Shaw very soon with director David Leitch.

Universal recently bumped the sequel’s release to April 10th, 2020.
