Exclusive: With Marvel hard at work on Phase 4, they are beginning to cast for new roles in the MCU.
One of these roles is “Adam,” a 25-35 year old African-American character. While there is no indication of which movie in particular this could be for, I think it’s very likely that it’s (and this is pure speculation) Midnight Sun, a major Shang-Chi character.
In the comics, Midnight Sun started out as a young boy named M’Nai who lived in the African village where Shang-Chi’s father Fu Manchu had his headquarters. When British Armed Forces attacked the village, M’Nai was left severely disfigured but did not cry from his injuries. Fu Manchu took the child in and raised him alongside Shang-Chi. M’Nai later took up the codename Midnight and was Shang-Chi’s surrogate brother until Fu Manchu ordered Midnight to kill him. From that point on, they were neither friends nor brothers, only enemies. Given that The Mandarin will likely be filling in for Fu Manchu in the MCU, it’s easy for Midnight’s story to stay almost exactly the same.
If this breakdown isn’t for the role of Midnight in ‘Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings’, it could be for Doctor Voodoo in ‘Doctor Strange In The Madness Of The Multiverse’. Jericho Drumm, a frequent Doctor Strange character, is a fellow sorcerer who seems likely to appear sooner rather than later. If Blue Marvel happens to pop up somewhere, this breakdown has a slim possibility of being for him.
Daniel Destin Cretton is directing ‘Shang-Chi’, which stars Simu Liu,. It will hit theaters in February 2021.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen are reprising their roles Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch for the ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel. The pic will debut in theaters in May 2021.
