With production set to begin next month, ‘Tully’ director Jason Reitman is looking to fill another role in his new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie.
The GWW has learned that Reitman is searching for a 70 to 90-year-old actress to play “Roller Granny,” an “old woman who works at a carhop. She’s dry and funny in a way that makes her seem ambivalent to the customers.” Roller skating experience is preferred for auditioners.
The movie follows a family who moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are. It will serve as a direct sequel to ‘Ghostbusters II’ rather than a reboot like Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ that released in 2016.
Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, and Sigourney Weaver are set to return. Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd have read the script but haven’t signed on yet. Annie Potts has teased her involvement but hasn’t officially joined the project. There’s been no word on Ernie Hudson returning. Jason Reitman, son of the director of the original ‘Ghostbusters’ movies, is helming the pic and the co-writing the script with ‘Monster House’ writer with ‘Monster House’ director Gil Kenan. It will hit theaters on July 10, 2020.
