Today, Warner Brothers announced a shift in their upcoming film slate release dates. First, they announced that Andy Serkis The Jungle Book (Not to be confused with Jon Faverus coming out this month) has been pushed back a year from October 2017 to October 2018. They also went onto announce that Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot will be released 3 weeks earlier on June 2nd, 2017 instead of it’s original June 23rd, 2018. Which is a good thing considering originally they were going to battle Transformers 5 at the box office. Lastly, WB announced 2 untitled DC films will be released on October 5, 2018, and November 1, 2019. The obvious choice for one of these untitled films would be Ben Affleck’s The Batman which was rumored to have completed the script with DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns.
In a separate article with The Hollywood Reporter it has also been revealed that after the commercial cusses but critical failure of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the company is looking to move away from “homegrown” films. To focuses solely on their tentpole films like DC, Lego franchise and Harry Potter.
