Matt Reeves Walks Away From ‘The Batman’ As Talks Break Down

Feb 18, 2017

Last week it was reported that War of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves was in talks to direct the solo Batman film after Ben Affleck stepped down from directorial duties to focus on playing the Caped Crusader.

Fans started to get excited over the potential of Affleck’s replacement, taking on the first Dark Knight solo film set within the DC Extended Universe.

Now THR reports that Reeves has walked away from talks with Warner Bros. over helming The Batman. According to the site there’s still a possibility talks could resume after the two take some time apart.

Could Warner Bros now turn to the legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott or even Don’t Breathe helmer Fede Alvarez? Both mens names were linked with the directing gig after all. They may even go back to the drawing board once again?

This is yet another setback for the DC Extended Universe, just one more speed bump on the road to get over. Hopefully talks can restart with Reeves and the studio shortly and get things ironed out.
