We’ve been covering production details of Universal’s Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
A new crew addition that Omega Underground has learned seemingly further supports that Deadpool 2 director David Leitch will indeed be confirmed for Hobbs. Leitch’s production designer David Scheunemann (Mute, Inglourious Basterds) is attached, he worked on both Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2.
Previously, we revealed that the studio is aiming to have cameras rolling by September 4th with filming locations including Atlanta, Hawaii, and the UK.
If the studio ends up starting in early September it could suggest that Jason Statham might not be participating in Expendables 4 (begins filming this August in Bulgaria) or won’t have a very large role.
Universal gave Hobbs and Shaw the release date of July 26th, 2019.
