Today, was the second day of Las Vegas CinemaCon event. To start off the day the very first studio to present a panel was Walt Disney. This included the companies subsidiary studios Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar. After an hour long State of the Industry event by NATO (National Association of Theater Owners) we dove directly into the Disney section of the panel.
The panel began with a montage of 2017 and 2018 films from Disney but also included a quick glimpse at Frozen 2 as well as the live-action remake of Dumbo. Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios Alan Horn took the stage to introduce and pay farewell to Disney’s Head of Distribution Dave Hollis.
Hollis began by remarking on Marvel Studios and head Kevin Feige on their 10 year anniversary. About so much the company has accomplished over the past decade leading in Avengers: Infinity War. He then presented the CinemaCon audience with an exclusive scene from Avengers: Infinity War. Without any spoilers the scene involved the very first time Thor meets the Guardians of the Galaxy. The scene is very funny but full of spoilers regarding what happens to the Asagardian people after the events of Thor: Ragnarok.
From there the studio presented a brand new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. The a car fight action sequence that may even rival the infamous Deadpool car scene from 2016. The Marvel Studios section of the panel ended by showing the SDCC concept art of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. Which is filming now and expected to debut in early 2019.
Next, the studio showed the audience several behind the scenes videos mixed with new footage for their upcoming films Christopher Robin, The Nutcracker and Marry Poppins Returns. Christopher Robin showed more of the Pooh characters like Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. While Keira Knightley and Helen Mirran is practically unrecognizable in their makeup in The Nutcracker: The Four Realms.
The studio then got into their live-action remake’s of their classic films. By debuting behind the scenes featurette’s with exclusive footage from both Tim Burton’s Dumbo and Guy Richie’s Aladdin. The footage shown for Dumbo did not include any actual shot of Dumbo flying. However, did show the cute elephant in a POV scene flying around the circus tent. With shots of the human characters in the film played by Danny DeVito and Micheal Keaton. In Aladdin it is revealed that Will Smith’s genie will still look human throughout the film. No motion-capture was used for the role. As well as revealing that star Mena Massoud will have an American accent throughout the film.

Disney then switched gears and focused on their animation side of things. By showing the same D23 scene from Wreck It Ralph 2. In the scene Penelope finds herself in a room full of classic Disney princess as well as cameos from Moana, Elsa and Meredith. Next, the studio showed us the first 15 minutes of The Incredibles 2 which takes place directly after The Incredibles as The Underminer attacks. Which leads to some trouble between Violet’s crush Tony and Violet herself.
The studio then spoke about their acquisition of Lucasfilm and the launch of the new sequel trilogy for Star Wars. With Star Wars: The Last Jedi exceeding expectations at the box office. With the studio now looking forward to the next spin-off movie Solo: A Star Wars Story. The studio then exclusively brought us a clip from the film which shows Han Solo as he first meets the charismatic smooth talker Lando Calrissian. The two engage in a gambling game before the two put up their respective ships to bet in the game. Then, the scene came to a close showcasing the recently released trailer.
Before ending their panel the studio brought us one last gift by showing the D23 footage of The Lion King remake. The scene is a shot-for-shot remake of the opening sequence from the animated film with The Circle of Life playing in the background. As Rafiki lifts baby Simba over Pride Rock to all of the animal kingdom. Before showing the film’s title logo..
