We’ve been recently covering production updates concerning upcoming HBO series and we have a new update for their new series Lovecraft Country.
Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff and written by Misha Green, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Omega Underground has learned Lovecraft Country will begin shooting in Chicago, Illinois on July 16th and is expected to wrap August 13th.
It sounds a little short for an entire series shoot but it could be just for the pilot but we can confirm it will indeed film in Chicago at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios as first reported by the ChicagoTribune.
Former Bond 25 candidate and White Boy Rick director Yan Demange is set to direct the pilot.
Lovecraft Country’s cast consists of Elizabeth Debicki, Aunjanune Ellis, Jonathan Majors, Wunmi Mosaku, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Courtney B. Vance.
The series is produced by Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw Productions, J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. Television.
We suspect an air date sometime next year.
