My name is Jamie Jordan. I’m 35 years old. I have cerebral palsy and I am a gamer. I’ve been confined to a wheelchair my entire life. As a result I never played sports and the main way I hung out with friends growing up was by playing video games. I played everything I could get my hands on. Now that I’m older I look back on those days and wish I still had that kind of time but gaming is still my number one hobby. The cerebral palsy affects my body in many different ways, but the one that affects my gaming is my hands. I have very little use of my left hand. My right is much better looking, but still sometimes can be unpredictable.
As you will find out as you begin to watch my videos on geekswithwives.com, controllers in the shape of joysticks have always been my preferred way to game on a console. When I was younger, I enjoyed nothing more than to game with my friends. My brother used to get upset with me because his friends would come over and see how much fun I was having and go playing games with me instead of hanging out with him. Video games have always given me a way to feel included and to escape from Life with my disability.
I could be anything, a detective, a sports star, a bounty hunter, a knight. There were no limits that’s what gaming has given to me. As you begin to watch these videos I want to make one thing abundantly clear. These videos are for you. If you are watching and you have any questions for me please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re going to talk about everything. Not just video games but what it’s like to be a guy in a wheelchair who loves videogames. I want you all to be a part of the discussion. Nothing is off-limits. If you ask a question or want to have a discussion I’m making it my mission to use these videos as a forum for not only me but for you as well. I hope you enjoy what you see. And I hope you’ll get involved.
Game on,
Jamie Jordan
