Today, Variety announced that Parks & Rec star Ben Schwartz will voice the speedster Sonic the Hedgehog in the upcoming semi live-action movie. This isn’t the first time Schwartz lent his voice for a famous pop culture character. He has voiced Dewy in the Ducktales remake; as well as voicing Leonardo in the upcoming Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
Jim Carrey earlier this week was also announced to be playing a live-action version of Sonic’s archenemy Doctor Eggman. James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Natasha Rothwell are also apart of the cast. With Marsden playing a live-action cop who helps Sonic take down Doctor Eggman.
I. LOVE. 90S. BLUE. ICONIC. CHARACTERS. I am beyond excited about this movie. It’s gonna be amazing. I have been training by running, wagging my finger and impatiently tapping my foot. GOTTA GO FAST! https://t.co/SOYqgnf3ym
