DC’s ‘Swamp Thing’ is a step closer to filming!
‘Gotham’ star Crystal Reed will be playing Abby Arcane, the lead role in the ‘Swamp Thing’ series which will premiere exclusively on DC Universe sometime next year, Deadline reports. The story will unfold from her point of view as Swamp Thing seems to be more of a ‘Jaws’ type character. You can read the official character description below.
Smart and caring, CDC Doctor Abby Arcane’s (Reed) strong sense of empathy puts her at the center of a horrific life-threatening epidemic in her hometown, where she faces emotional demons from her past… while a chance meeting with scientist Alec Holland takes her into a world of horror and the supernatural, and of the elemental creature known as Swamp Thing.
The show will follow Arcane as she returns to her home town of Houma, Louisiana as a CDC Agent investigating a mysterious and deadly virus that originated in the swamp. When she returns, she is pulled into the world of Alec Holland and an elemental monster known as The Swamp Thing.
Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman are writing the series with Len Weisman directing the pilot. James Wan is on board as an executive producer with Weisman, Verheiden, Dauberman, and Michael Clear joining him. Production is expected to begin this October.
