UAE outlet The National reports they have direct quotes from Wonder Woman actor Said Taghmaoui that he’s in the mix to play the villain of Daniel Craig’s Bond 25, revealing he was cast by Danny Boyle before his exit on the film.
French-American-Moroccan actor Said Taghmaoui has revealed exclusively to The National that he expects to step into the shoes of the latest Bond villain when the movie goes into production soon – shooting is scheduled for December, although the recent departure of director Danny Boyle could cause delays.
“I’m supposed to do the next James Bond, playing the lead bad guy.”
“I was cast by Danny Boyle, and just now he left the project, so of course there’s some uncertainty.”
“We don’t know who the director will be, and the producers don’t know if they’re going to go Russian or Middle East with the baddie right now. I literally just received a message saying: ‘If they go Middle East, it’s you. If they go Russian, it’s someone else.’ It’s the story of my life. Always on that line between something that could change my life and something that disappears.”
Despite potential quotes directly from Said himself, we’re a little cautious considering some of the flat-out wrong reporting coming out of Middle Eastern entertainment websites recently. But I’d be really excited if this does come together he’s an excellent character actor and deserves a larger spotlight.
A director search is still on while some new names have surfaced via Variety such as Star Trek 4 director SJ Clarkson.
It remains to be seen who will ultimately takeover directing duties from Boyle on the final Craig film.
Filming was expected to begin on December 3rd at Pinewood Studios UK with a release date of November 8th, 2019.
