The world of Superman is growing even larger on the CW.
‘Supergirl’ is set to introduce Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in its fourth season. You can read executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller’s statement below.
We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season. We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.
With no Superman plans on the movie side of things, rumors are swirling about Tyler Hoechlin getting his own Superman show, whether it be on the CW or on the DC Universe streaming service, where a Superman prequel show titled ‘Metropolis’ is currently being redeveloped. Hoechlin will be reprising his role as the Man of Steel on this year’s Arrowverse crossover, where he will join Elizabeth Tulloch, who is set to debut as Lois Lane.
Lex Luthor was previously played by Michael Rosenbaum on the CW’s Superman prequel ‘Smallville,’ and was most recently played by Jesse Eisenberg in the DCEU movie ‘Justice League.’ Casting for the role on ‘Supergirl’ is currently underway.
