ABC has opted not to go through with the pilot order to its Marvel drama from Allan Heinberg. Heinberg is responsible for creating the ‘Young Avengers’ and writing 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman.’
The series about female characters with superpowers had a big pilot production commitment.
Moreover, details on the series are very sparse, with only the above notion of characters known. Thus, it is said the series is based on lesser-known Marvel characters. Deadline speculated such teams like A-Force, Lady Liberators and Fearless Defenders could have been used.
Additionally, Heinberg still has an overall deal at ABC Studios.
Creating a new Marvel series is a priority for ABC, as they (for some reason) want to keep making Marvel shows. However, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ got a Season 7 renewal, ahead of the summer premiere of Season 6, so they have that to tide them over.
Further, it is unclear if the untitled hour-long drama from Heinberg, Marvel Television and ABC Studios, will get a new home elsewhere.
